I plan on moving to the city myself and renting a 2BR in Logan Square. How hard would it be to fill this room? Obviously it won't be completely "random" because I will list the kind of person I'm looking for in my craigslist ad. Speaking of which, are there any other places I should look for one?

I really need to fill the room within a month, as I cannot afford it otherwise. You guys think I'll be alright?

That's actually a nice idea, only risk is if you can't rent it out for some reason.

1 bedrooms are pretty damn expensive, however 2 bedrooms can be had for a much more reasonable price. Better to rent out your own than to rent from somebody.

That's what I'm saying. A 1BR right now is just too much.

I know someone that lived with a "random" roommate before. That person would have all kinds of random guests over, things would randomly disappear, and his buttocks would randomly be sore and he can't remember anything from the night before.

I moved to Chicago recently not knowing anyone and found a place with roommates on Craigslist. Went and meet the people and they were decent.

I found a room mate on CL before.

Try to get a short lease 6-8 months. That way you're not stuck with some weirdo!

Mine wasn't weird though, lived together for 2 years. It was for College out of Chicago, but we were both Chicagoans.

I've been looking at getting a roommate when I move in March. I've been browsing easyroommate.com, seems like a pretty great way to find a decent roommate.

My son got room mates from Craigslist. They were all college students from either DePaul or Columbia so it all worked out well. In fact one of them he still lives with and its been probably over five years now.
