Because not everybody are off the following day. Just because they have a party everybody else needs to stop what that are doing to listen to their hollering, screaming, load , music etc. I guess it comes down to mutual respect. Something you ought to have when you renting an apartment.

I did call the landlord the following day. These people have had complaints before. We will see what happens.

If this is a continuing issue, I would be pissed as well. A rare late night party, wouldn't bother me.

Well, they don't have parities everyday. However, they like to practice playing electric guitar other instruments during the days until early evenings and they have the base turned up really loud! After hours and hours of it gets really annoying. But this is during the day so Im ok with it. Im not home most of the time anyways.

But rare parties or not. This party went on until almost 3 am and they did not turn it down until my husband walked up there and told them to turn it off on his way to work. It's hard to explain how loud it was if you weren't here. My son slept right though it, nothing will wake him up. I gave my husband earplugs..lol. He said they helped the noise a little but could still feel the vibration.

It is a noise ordinance violation and usually police will respond promptly (assuming they're not called to the scene of a murder or some emergency).

A fairly popular, dense, and young-ish north side neighborhood is the last place to choose to live if you don't want to hear partying at 2 AM on a Saturday night.

I'd call the cops if I didn't hear partying on a Saturday night. I'd assume there had been an evacuation order or something.

Andersonville is not Lincoln Park, and is actually a pretty family-oriented area.

That, or talking to them directly, is the best way to go. Cops usually don't do much if it's simply noisy, they'll just ask them to keep it down. If they're drinking in the street or trespassing on someone else's property they will do something.

And then people wonder why families don't stay in the city...

It's Saturday Night, you live in Andersonville... in one of the largest cities in the country. I would never even think to call the cops on this sort of thing, it comes with the territory. At least could have knocked on their door first.

Wait, so... you called the cops on them, before you knocked on their door and asked them to turn it down? Please say that isn't so...
