This is getting old really fast... warmer winters are simply a terrible reason to live in NYC or Boston over Chicago. Can we agree on that and move on?

Yes, because people go to museums so often. How is that a positive of a city. Ethnic diversity is in every major city, as well as food. Who cares if Northwestern or U of C are in Chicago, unless you go there what difference does that make?

I also find it ridiculous that weather would make a city less world-class, but I think the OP had a good question in "What does Chicago have that Los Angeles and New York do not", besides the obvious cost of living.

I think I can answer my own question, lol. Chicago has a more creative food scene, and a better waterfront.

Water front that you cannot enjoy half the year. Most major cities have great food scenes. I guess I am just a pansy now when it comes to the cold, and the whining is just my way of coping until I can move away.

Its silly. Most die hard Chicagoans know how to deal with the winter. They bundle up, stay in and pursue indoor activities. Some do venture out and ice skate, cross country ski and hike. Most of the weather is nice or tolerable cold. January and February are really cold mostly but sometimes the winters are not so bad. Does not mean we are a worse city for it. Don't be a wuss.

Ive been to all around the country and some of the worst winter weather I have ever experienced was in Chicago. At the same time, some of the worst summer weather I have ever experienced was in Chicago. The murder rate is off the scale, and the architecture does not appeal to me at all.
