I was riding the Green line and noticed the abandoned Brachs facility from the Cicero stop. There is some very tall building near the Brachs facility that is being torn down. It must have been 15-20 stories tall and the shell of it is still standing and there is a big mountain of debris all over. Does anyone have any information about whats going on there? I couldn't tell if it was part of the Brachs campus or not.

First time I ever saw the old Brachs factory called a campus. ;-) We lived near there when I was a kid, my Old Man used to go to the outlet store there and buy bridge mix and such.

Yeah they are tearing it down. Drove past recently. It has been closed since the early 2000's.

Is the city paying to tear it down?

Terrific. What a shame adding another historic building and landmark to the list of "Lost Chicago."
Will the next building last 92 years?

No the city never owned it. They shut down in 2003 and it was sold to another company. That company is having it all torn down and then they are building a 500,000sf industrial building on the site and retooling the rest of the site for future industrial buildings. They said due to the specs of the brachs buildings they don't really work for modern industrial uses and there was no interest in them. Hence they're being torn down and newer industry built in its place.
