I'm going to Chicago on Saturday, I want to know is it possible to walk from downtown to 26th st. I know 26th isn't the best, but it's no WGP or Englewood. I know to look out, but honestly; what is the area crime wise?

I googled mapped it
I realized and I can't do that
And it was from the train station (where the northwest line ends)

You could easily walk from downtown to 26th Street. It's only like 2.5 miles. Or are you talking about the Little Village strip of 26th street?

Even walking to Little Village from the Loop is about five miles, so unless you have medical problems you would be able to walk it. I've walked from the Loop to Evanston, which is almost twice that far. A healthy person should be able to walk across the entire city. It would take a while, but it's doable.

If you are truly trying to get to Little Village, the destination would be the most dangerous part of the walk. That and I'm not crazy about walking around the courthouse/jail. But you should be able to get across Pilsen without too much trouble.

I'm assuming you mean the Little Village portion. Walk to the Clinton Pink Line station. Take Pink Line to whichever stop is closest to your destination. Walk from there. Total walking should be about a mile each way, each half split into to/from the Pink Line stations on each end, so it shouldn't be too bad if you have the time. Total CTA fares will add up to between $4.50 and $6 (or up to $10 if you get a full Ventra card and never redeem the creditable $5 card fee) depending on how you pay.

Yes I'm referring to 26th St as in LV and Pilsen.
