[=rvernsey;34526166]There are dirt poor trailer parks all over the south where you can buy a gun at every hardware store. They don't have Chicago's violence issues.

Try again.[/quote]

They do in Southern cities just as much. New Orleans, Memphis, Atlanta, and several other southern cities have violent crime problems just as bad as Chicago.

And if you read his post, he stated that people get guns outside the city and suburbs, in similar dirt poor trailer park all over the midwest, similar to the south.

Even in the small towns and rural areas, you have more violence than one might think, its just not random, but between people who know each other well.

Theres a lot of propaganda that has pushed the idea that social ills have nothing to do with the divide between the haves and have nots, so that the divide between haves and have nots can go on being perpetuated.

It has been shown many times, that violence withing minority communities is something that has been deliberarely encouraged to keep a portion of the population divided and impoverished. Have you ever heard about the secret meetings between those from the prison industry and those in the music industry creating gangster rap with the intention of filling our prisons with a potential, possible source of free labor? Or the war on drugs? The government gets a lot of power from creating and perpetuating a black market.

Its propaganda that benefits those with power that minorities are less civilized. It analogous to the way the European colonial powers encouraged division and barriers between the various ethnic groups they were ruling over. Thus the civil strife today. But I digress.

Gun Violence in U.S. Cities Compared to the Deadliest Nations in the World - Richard Florida - The Atlantic Cities

Quote:
The pattern is staggering. A number of U.S. cities have gun homicide rates in line with the most deadly nations in the world.

If it were a country, New Orleans (with a rate 62.1 gun murders per 100,000 people) would rank second in the world.
Detroit's gun homicide rate (35.9) is just a bit less than El Salvador (39.9).
Baltimore's rate (29.7) is not too far off that of Guatemala (34.8).
Gun murder in Newark (25.4) and Miami (23.7) is comparable to Colombia (27.1).
Washington D.C. (19) has a higher rate of gun homicide than Brazil (18.1).
Atlanta's rate (17.2) is about the same as South Africa (17).
Cleveland (17.4) has a higher rate than the Dominican Republic (16.3).
Gun murder in Buffalo (16.5) is similar to Panama (16.2).
Houston's rate (12.9) is slightly higher than Ecuador's (12.7).
Gun homicide in Chicago (11.6) is similar to Guyana (11.5).
Phoenix's rate (10.6) is slightly higher than Mexico (10).
Los Angeles (9.2) is comparable to the Philippines (8.9).
Boston rate (6.2) is higher than Nicaragua (5.9).
New York, where gun murders have declined to just four per 100,000, is still higher than Argentina (3).
Even the cities with the lowest homicide rates by American standards, like San Jose and Austin, compare to Albania and Cambodia respectively.

None of this is any surprise. You have the third largest city in America sitting in the second largest county in America. Something is wrong with this picture. Either thhe cops sit on their thumbs, or they're understaffed, or out-gunned and out-manned, or they really don't know how to contain it.

It is no news the drugs come in on 1-55. New Mexico has a good plan that works. They have protable stop signs they can set up on any road in the state. And they do. They have chase cars, dogs and guns at every stop. They put away their fair share of drug runners, and they make some big busts. IL can do it too. But it either does not or will not.

Why don't you point out what is racist instead of just blindly crying about it?

Serious question, I see graffiti a lot and I think it'd be interesting to see what particular gang is claiming to own the overpass on my bike route or whatever.
Gang graffiti doesn't always mean a gang owns that area
