so i've really enjoyed "Chicago: City of the Century" a PBS documentary DVD on the history of Chicago (1833 to 1933). The 4 disc series however ends at the world's fair. I'd really like to see other Chicago documentaries, especially those that cover up to recent times. I've heard of the PovertyinChicago DVD, but don't know of any others.

Can anyone help me find a good contemporary Chicago documentary?

This page has lots of Chicago documentaries on some pretty esoteric topics both historical and contemporary.

thanks for the heads up on those - it seems all of them however only focus in on parts and pieces of chicago's history. are there any out there that show a comprehensive view of chicago 20th century?

I've never found anything good about 20th Century Chicago--especially the post-war period of the 50s-90s. I guess a lot of the documentary audience lived through these times, but I would like to know more about the rapid decline of the urban economy in those years and how it affected the neighborhoods--and pictures would be great. Many people avoid the topic because of the racial overtones, but there are certainly many books you could read.
