I'm looking to relocate to Chicago as soon as possible. There are a lot of job openings for what I do. The thing is that when I get a job I will need to move fast. I would like some reccomendations for affordable housing with a decent school district in Chicago. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all of the information online and most of what I find is dated by a few years. Thanks in advance!

The term affordable is subjective. Your post gives us no information that can help you - you need to let us know what affordable actually means for you. I.e. monthly rent or housing prices (though you should always rent first if you don't know an area).

The City of Chicago is all part of one big rather bueracratic district. There are options for "magnet schools" but you need to apply for those and deadline has long since past for the 2014-15 school year.

There are some parts of Chicago where the "neighborhoods schools" (that would be those with an "attendance area" that serves all children in the area...) is of considerably better than average performance -- unfortunately few of those areas are particularly "affordable", those most are quite safe by urban standards.

Does your employment require you to live inside Chicago? Where will your work location be? Will you need aftercare?

This info would help in making an appropriate suggestion.
