If you only have 8 hours in Chicago and never been there, what would you not want to miss? Pier, Michigan Ave., etc? Coming in Thursday 10am and then to Great Lakes to see my Sailor? Any suggestions?

Millennium Park, Michigan Avenue, a boat or walking Architectural tour, maybe a run-through of the Art Institute if you love art and/or museums, possibly the Signature Lounge at the Hancock Center.

The Art Institute would be my first choice. That'll eat up most of the eight hours. Maybe hit Navy Pier for the rest of the time.

It depends on what you enjoy doing. With so many things to see and do in Chicago, I think it would be a shame to spend it indoors, even though they're predicting rain and 52 degrees on Thursday.

Depends on personal tastes / desires.

Some folks might to get a very memorable meal, others might want stand on the site where the current President had a rousing public celebration, others might want to visit spots they've seen in Ferris Bueller's Day Off...
