According to google maps, at an average cycling pace this is a little over 96 minutes each way. Frankly about what it says for public transit. Sure, you'd have to be a little goofy to deliberately choose to live so far from Hyde Park if that's where your job is located and you are such a rabid supporter of "bike to work" but HEY it is possible...

That would probably be suitable for someone like Jessie69.

Forest Park/ Oak Park are really the only two near west suburbs you could live in and make a commute like this in under two hours using public transportation. Try living in other near west/western suburbs Endless and you will be limited to Pace and Metra.

Cicero has pretty much the same transit options as Oak Park, though it is not as upscale.

The Blue and Green lines cut through the middle of Oak Park whereas the Pink line is mainly for north Cicero, but yes Cicero does have transit options

BNSF yes, the Blue line doesn't come through the town of Cicero but it is accessible from Austin or Cicero Ave.

CCrest182 is spot on -- if you needed to get to Loyola Med Center, (or the VA or the state mental health facility all nearby...) a bus from Forest Park would be fine and the little bit extra distance from Oak Park would probably still be more than tolerable.

Getting to UofC is completely different. There are no direct links to rail, no express buses from the western suburbs, a whole lot of other commuters certainly would impact the progress of a bus onnsurface streets much more so than a private vehicle on expressways and just a ridiculously challenging "edge case" of transit boosterism.

If the OP thinks this is "not that bad" (apparently becuase they're from the south where such circuitous bus trips are not uncommon ???) then they might happily endure this but for the benefit of anyone contemplating relocating to the region the fact remains -- Forest Park is an exceedingly inconvent choice if your objective is take public transit to Hyde Park.
Exactly. Even just forgetting about all of the potential traffic, schedules, lines, whatever, the two places are nowhere near each other in terms of proximity. I'm starting to think posts like these are from people who are just trolling...
