I am planning to take Megabus to Minnesota from Chicago for a family reunion. Mainly due to the inexpensiveness of it. I wanted to know how the service is and what to expect.

I did it once to Minnesota and back about 2 years ago in the winter. The service was average and the bus was full so there was no room to spread out except between stops (Madison, and Milwaukee) outside of that I guess it was OK for a round trip of $60. If you have the money just take the plane, it's a 1 hour flight oppose to a 7 or 8 hr bus ride.

I haven't taken it to Minnesota, but I have taken it roundtrip from Chicago to St. Louis. It was cheap, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you can afford it, shell out the extra money for the Amtrak if you don't want to fly. The bus took just as long as the train does, but the train offered more space and more freedom of movement.
