I'd have to politely disagree, granted it's nothing like the COL in NYC or LA.

True, it really depends on which cities you are comparing it to. In my opinion however, for a dense, urban big city with great public transportation, culture, etc, Chicago is a bargain. Sure, cities like Houston and Atlanta are cheaper, but they don't offer nearly as much from an urban standpoint.

Debatable, unless you're talking about density and walkability, then I'll agree.

Again I think when our Rust belt cities have good news on aspects of growth and prosperity. I surely see warrant to note it. But the some people I see want to just dismiss any. Some particularly for Chicago? Some of the Same people? Statistics seem to show increases in professionals moving into the city. But somewhat larger numbers of poorer disadvantaged moving out. I live in the northeast now. There is movement of poorer families from NYC and Philly including minorities leaving the big cities for Pennsylvania's small towns with cheap depressed housing stock but good gang free schools for their children, that is cheap. Young professionals from the small towns moving onto the big cities. I see it by me. Back to Chicago. I see improvements each time return to Chicago. Where I lived for a few years in the 80s. Noting the influx of white professionals living downtown and gentrified neighborhoods still growing. The crash a few years ago didn't stop it? Just slowed it. Warmer milder climate cities are gaining both poorer classes moving there and young professionals. That is a bit of the difference? You can boost you favorite city without dissing the other.
