Calm down. Geez. Yea, yea B10 schools are nothing special and are glorified community colleges. What do you say when a query starts with an LAS or Ivy League school?

Schmoozing and being a bro will land a person a job more quickly than "math skills." Your should move into a shared place with some junior finance bros, hang out at their parties and make friends and eventually someone will hook him up. One of my friends got a trading traineeship because he was the BARTENDER at a bar where all the traders hung out. Of course, he was pretty smart but he would have got nowhere just feeding his resume into a bunch of HR systems.

I don't think it's that, more that they're just total d-bags from smaller/smallish midwest towns that move to Chicago and think they are the bomb; mostly bombed, but you get the picture. Wrigleyville and Wrigley Field a-holes. Everyone north of North Avenue has the midwest/Big 10 resume. No thanks.

Just curious, but what are the thoughts about the same grad from an Ivy League school? Does it buy him/her instant credibility or just meh?

So what makes for a more acceptable background in your narrow view of humanity? Community college grad from the southwest?

Yeah, Northwestern and Michigan are "Glorified Community Colleges". Your grip on reality is astounding.

Try getting a decent job straight out of high school with no college degree. It's nearly impossible without some kind of higher education or vocational training.

What's with all the Big 10 bashing??

Northwestern University is a glorified community college? All the engineering students at Michigan, Perdue and University of Illinois are worthless bros now? Sheesh. The Big 10 is the smartest conference outside of the Ivy League. It's an academic powerhouse. This thread is simple jealousy run rampant.

Yep.

The University of Chicago was once in the Big Ten, but "loaned" it's membership to Michigan State. Another "glorified community college" for sure.
