Why are you driving 75 miles every day?

Seriously. Move closer to work, and then you can just complain about ruining that new pair of shoes. If I had to drive 75 miles a day I'd prefer doing it in nice weather too.

Yeah, the weather sucks in Chicago. Is anyone truly surprised by this?

Let me simply agree. Chicago weather is an abomination. Good thing or we would have even more ugly new condo highrises going up.

I live in Bridgeport (south west of the Loop) but work in Schaumburg...

I have tried to find a job in downtown..it would be nice to just on the orange line/halsted stop.

If you really like your job in Schaumburg and don't like the notion of living in the burbs, I'd consider relocating to the northwest side of the city, it might not be as hip as Bridgeport is (yes, Bridgeport is fast becoming the new hipster hang out, full of young people who wear skinny jeans and complain about 'the yuppies'), but you'd be a lot closer to work and still be on an 'el' line. Life is too short to spend it in the car.
