Chicago is like any other place. You have a list of positives and a list of negatives.
what's not to get....it's just expressing a love for the place from those who love it and, yes, a damned large percentage of us here in the windy city do think we have the best damned city around.

but so what, you being from St. Louis could come up with your own list of 51....and who would argue with you that an elegant, soaring, awe inspiring stainless steel arch, among other pleasures, gives you much to crow about. it does.

why does anybody look at a list like that and think it is some kind of competitive thing as opposed to being what it tends to be: a celebration of our city.

as for the list....nice job. i'm just not sure why potbelly's was on it: it's not a local chain. now portillo's i could see (as in "where fast food becomes an art form" or something to that effect) but it wasn't there.

reason 52...

the world is centered at 0 N/S, 0 E/W (State and Madison) and spreads outward from there.

didn't realize it started in Chicago, but still it is national so i'm not sure how that is different from saying McD is a local chain. and obviously I'd say the same about Maggiano's, despite its LEY roots.

I know I mentioned Portillo's as being a Chicago chain and I would consider it as such despite a few outlets they have in California and, I believe, Arizona. But it's basically local.

Potbelly's is different.

Relish is fine on a hot dog...and so is ketchup.

Most of America puts ketchup on hot dogs.

ketchup has gotten sweeter over the years, it's gross now. I don't even put it on burgers anymore.

I don't use it with fries either. Would one put ketchup on a bratwurst, a polish, a thuringer or hungarian?
