um, thanks for correcting my grammar? seems a little unnecessary.

What I was saying is that I hate college football, particularly that of my alma mater, the Volunteers of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

There you go.

I'm from the suburbs of Detroit, and I have at least 6-7 random neighbors that are as well. We live in Wrigleyville.

Best way to meet people from Michigan is to go to Hi Tops (formerly Gin Mill) or any of the UM bars.

Nope, it's the area immediately south of the Medical District, but north of Pilsen. Look it up on a satellite view sometime.

Don't have to, I know what's there. And much of Detroit should be so lucky. Instead there's tens of thousands of long-abandoned homes and structures at the ready to serve as dens for squatters and crack dealers until either arsonists use them for target practice or nature reclaims them.

Yes, I'm aware of what Detroit looks like, and I'm aware that you also know. I didn't intend to insult your intelligence, so no need for the defensive tone.

Standing in the middle of all those weeds (are the parking meters still there?), within view of the skyline, with drag racing cars and exactly one shuttered house per block -- at least a few Detroiters have told me that it feels just like home, minus the "L" trains and busy neighborhoods all around.

I assume that when people say college educated youn ex-Detroiter living in Chicago it usually means someone from the suburbs of Detroit, how many people from Detroit proper attend the University of Michigan or Michigan State? I am not saying there are none but compared to people from better off suburbs and other parts of the state the proportion must be pretty low.
