It's hard to call Sauganash or Beverly "working class", though. Housing is quite expensive in both neighborhoods.

I think as long as there is mandatory rule that city employees must live in the city (all those cops are firefighters that seem to be a more "connected" and "generational", and the bungalow belt stays relatively affordable, I think Chicago will maintain more semblance of its white ethnic/Catholic working class culture better than New York.

Beverly is not that expensive. Of course there are large, beautiful houses that can get pricey, but you can also find many 3+ bed single family homes with a 2 car garage for $200K. Very affordable IMO.

Really surprised nobody's mentioned areas like Belmont Central.

It's in Cragin, which is about 80 percent Hispanic as of the 2010 census. The signs, some bars, restaurants and stores, and old people are Polish; not much else.

That specific area is not 80% hispanic - it's closer to 50% in that specific area. Go to Stereo Nightclub there and tell me it's just old Polish people. There's still enough there that it's different. Not a big area, but there's enough there.

* Census Tract 151200 in Cook County, Illinois Population and Races = 33.5% Polish, 39% Hispanic
* Census Tract 151100 in Cook County, Illinois Population and Races == 26% Polish, 47% Hispanic
* Census Tract 171100 in Cook County, Illinois Population and Races == 25.6% Polish, 37.5% Hispanic
* Census Tract 190401 in Cook County, Illinois Population and Races == 21% Polish
* Census Tract 190300 in Cook County, Illinois Population and Races == 20% Polish
* Census Tract 190402 in Cook County, Illinois Population and Races == ~15% Polish

I have been there, but when it was called Judenka. I go up there fairly often. I don't know about specific census tracts, but keep in mind your data is 5 years old. Do you ever go there? The Polish signs on the business are all obviously extremely dated, well the ones that are left. You do not even see many Poles, unless you go into a Polish bar.

It's pretty much a Hispanic neighborhood; you see more Poles farther west.

First of all, that data is not 5 years old. That data is actually from the 2012 ACS. Second of all, yes I do go up there. How do you think I know about Stereo Nightclub? Not even most of the hardest club goers in Chicago know about that place. I was there last weekend - things are dwindling but there's still a number of European people living in that area.

If you find a nice Polish girl, you will be exposed to many secrets.

Some other fun haunts up that way:

New Europa
New England Inn

Now you may get stabbed for not being a Pole, but, beyond that, quite a fun time. No one even speaks English.
