One difference I noticed is that Milwaukee's north shore seems be more diverse (economically and racially) than Chicago's North Shore. And in addition, the most undesirable parts of Milwauke (the north side) abutts the North Shore whereas for Chicago, the most undesirable part overall (the south side) is not close at all to the North Shore. There is also far less teardowns in Milwaukee's north shore than Chicago's. Oh, and the schools. Milwaukee's north shore high school (Nicolet) is not as elite and New Trier for Chicago's north shore and Nicolet also busses MPS students in via their Chapter 220 Program

There are some very nice sections on Milwaukee's North Side. Wauwatosa immediately comes to mind...

Wauwatosa is west of Milwaukee.
