I go to bed really late, due to my lifestyle. Sometimes I like to go to random places and pass time. I'm searching for 24 hour establishments that doesn't attract undesirable people. So far, just about any place turn sketchy after 1 or 2 am.

I would say maybe the 24 hour Starbucks at North and Wells. That place starts to fill up with bums later in the night but they'll leave you alone. There's usually a mixture of the late night crowd and the bums there at that time.

I thought that wasn't 24 hours anymore. There's some 24 hour diners out there that should be okay, but I'm not sure how long you can really spend in one.

Most businesses aren't crazy about people sitting around and taking up space just to "pass the time", but there are plenty of diner/restaurant type places that are mostly populated by cab drivers and drunk people late at night. Golden Apple and Arturo's are two that spring to mind.

That Starbucks is indeed still 24 hours. The one at Clark/Belmont used to be 24 hours but now it closes due to there being too many 'incidents' there. There are bums there, but there's also 'normal' people there as well and the bums mind their own business the times that I've been there. Sometimes they'll be there playing chess and it's interesting to watch. I'm in the same boat as you lifestyle wise and wish there was more places open late at night that weren't bars or whatever. Plus Starbucks is pretty cool with having you hang out for a long time after you've made your drink purchase. Whereas a diner may not let you do the same thing. Fwiw, there's a 24 hour diner on Clark, a little south of Diversey called The Edge, but I'm not really a fan of the food.

Seriously? There's many of them. Let's just start out with Bijan's on State which closes at 4am everyday.

That 24 hr Starbucks in Old Town is pretty good, I just hate how they make you move sides to clean around 3am. It's still mostly students and old people. Clarke's on Belmont is 24 hours and there's no bums in there, but I guess you have keep buying something to stay, which is normal.
