My mom needs to take transportation from O'Hare Airport to Intercontinental Chicago Hotel (505 N Michigan Ave?

When I search google transportation map I find that she needs to take BLUE LINE train towards Forest Park, and change it only one time at State & Randolph station .

This is what I found online / google maps :

But someone told me today that it is not true, she need to take bus and train combined and it just looks too much complicated .

Can someone confirm that first route (train only - blue line) will work ?

Thank You

No, you can't get to the Intercontinental by taking only the L. When she gets off the L she will have to either take a cab or a bus to get to the hotel, which is what your google map is showing.

Take the blue line to downtown from O'Hare. Very simple. She can take a cab or walk from downtown to the hotel.

Take the Blue Line. Get off at "Clark and Lake" stop, take cab for a short ride, proably a $5 or $6 cab fair.

If her mother is spry enough to take the train from O'Hare, she's spry enough to make the 5 minute walk from the Grand station on the Red Line to the Intercontinental. Or even to make the walk from the Clark/Lake station of the Blue Line, which would be more like 20 minutes.

To the OP:

There are a bunch of combinations of ways to get there, and most of them will work just fine. Depending on how much luggage your mother has, and her physical condition, here are probably the four most common ways people use the Blue Line to get to the Intercontinental.

1) Blue Line to Clark/Lake station, take short cab ride to Intercontinental (~$6-7 including tip)
2) Blue Line to Randolph/State, transfer to Red Line, take that toward Howard and get off at the Grand Stop and walk 5 minutes to the Intercontinental. Very safe area.
3) Blue Line to Clark/Lake station, walk to intercontinental, about 20 minute walk, very safe areas.
4) Blue Line to Grand Station, take 65 Grand Bus east-bound, which will cut over to Illinois, stop at Michigan Ave, directly by Intercontinental. Disadvantage to this is there are no elevators at Grand, so have to carry luggage up from subway.
