Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am going to be traveling through Chicago to get to Indiana on the night of Thanksgiving. Mapquest has me going from I-90 to 290 to 294. I won't be traveling until about ten at night. I know it can get a bit hairy through there other times of the day, but is it as bad at night?? Should I still try to find an alternate route? Any advice is helpful!! Thanks!

I am unsure of what you meant and I apologize. Hairy as in traffic or safety?Traffic is bad, but won't be too bad at that late on 90. I love 290 and 294 because even during rush hour it is barely ever standstill traffic, so your commute should not be too much of a hassle.
As for the other hairy hehe I wouldn't worry about safety because A) you will be on the highway most of the time and B) when in doubt for a safe place to rest, stop at an Oasis (Des Plaines Oasis, etc) Anything else, feel free to ask. Otherwise it all depends on what exit you get off at, basically.

I'm not sure where you are coming from, but those directions don't sound correct. You can take I-90 directly to I-294 south and that will take you directly into Indiana.

It might be faster to take the Kennedy/Circle/DanRyan. More lanes, no tolls, etc.

It might be cheaper, but if the driver isn't familar with these names and the Chicago expressways, wouldn't I-90 to 294 be easier to navigate? On the otherhand will all the ghastly road construction be done by then?

^^Newbies have this odd tendency to resurrect old posts. Quite annoying.
