So how is everyone doing with all the snow? I stepped out my door this morning and decided it was a good idea to wear boots today. Got in my car and as soon as i pulled out, I did a 180...great way to start the day! Glad I didnt hit any parked cars ...Does anyone know what they do with all the snow downtown? I have heard they take it out to the suburbs somewhere, but I have also heard they just use salt...which I find hard to believe.

They just move the snow around and then it melts and disappears. There's too much salt in it to dump it in the lake. In the blizzard of '79 they dumped it in parks and in an old quarry. That doesn't happen much now.

But, there's not a whole bunch of snow out there. I drove my kid to school (which is in business today) and went about my business. Soldier on, brother!

Everything is normal out here in the western burbs. Traffic is moving a bit slower, but not too terribly slow. All my coworkers made it to work, with only a handful arriving slightly late. Life goes on...

I did see some snowmobilers playing hookie this morning though.

My bus lumbered along a bit more slowly, but I was only 10 minutes late to work.

Holy crap! I walked a half mile in 10 inches of snow to get to the bus stop. I waited there for half an hour. My actual bus ride took 2 hours and 25 minutes (our route is on the Dan Ryan). I left my house in Lansing at 6:00 a.m. I just got to work at 9:15.

I left early to adjust for my Pace bus which I waited over an hour for yesterday evening. I got into my office before everyone else only to learn that the deadbolt on our suite is apparently locked overnight. So I sat around for an hour waiting for someone else to get here.

The CTA truly failed me today. I live five miles from my office, and it took me 1 hour and 10 minutes to get to work. I waited for the bus for only about ten minutes, but Lakeshore Drive was VERY slow. Our bus was a completely packed double-long version, and it broke down on Inner Drive for a few minutes. The driver got the bus started again and we made it down to Michigan and Delaware where it broke down again. We all got off the bus and tried to cram into three other packed buses. I didn't make it on any of these, and decided to walk through the snow to the Chicago Red Line stop. The first train came by and was too crowded to get on. I did get on the second train and was plastered against the door. Then the train was delayed for some kind of "signals ahead" type of thing.

I could have walked to work that fast. Ugh.
