In East Lakeview, streets east of Broadway do not have zoned permit restrictions. Most streets west of Broadway do.

Just driver around neighborhoods until you see a street without permit parking signs.

Pretty simple process.

This is probably too late, but in case anyone is looking for available parking in the future, go to a street that is advertised like in Craig' list as "easy street parking". Or, just do a search on each street by driving or walking and look for streets that do not have a lot of apartment buildings. These will be more family homes because they will park in their garage. One of the streets for example is in North Center neighborhood.

This is correct for all of 2015. Starting 2016 a majority of the streets east of Broadway will also contain zoned permit parking. Inner lake shore drive however will remain Zone free for now. Granted you have to move your car during Rush hour.
