My boyfriend and I are travelling to Chicago in a few weeks and I want to know if there is anywhere that has a panda exhibit, where you can play with pandas for a certain amount of time. All I can find is places in China. Thanks guys!!!

Yes, but you'll need to go to Brookfield.

An easy train ride from downtown.

Not much Giant Panda playing, just panda looking, they do have little Red Pandas but I don't think that is really what you are looking for.

Unless they have some panda's stowed away somewhere in Chinatown, you are out of luck.

There are no places outside China where you can touch a panda. They're simply too valuable (and too dangerous). Even though they're not proper bears, they can still be aggressive and be as dangerous as real bears.

There are only a handful of zoos outside of China that have pandas at all. Currently China maintains ownership of all pandas and other pandas are simply on loan to other zoos. The one partial exception is a zoo in Mexico City that had a line of pandas from pandas that were actual gifts from China before they switched to panda loans, but recently that zoo has promised to consider all future baby pandas to be owned by China but on permanent loan. Other zoos have to return pandas to China once they reach 5 years of age.

Brookfield used to have a giant panda but no longer does, only the so-called "red panda."
