I had to look that one up on google.
Obama Kissing Rock

Quote:
While today it is a tiny little green space with flowers and a flagpole, the "Obama Kissing Rock" was once the site of a Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop. Future-President Barack and future-First-Lady Michelle visited the Hyde Park franchise on their very first date back in the summer of 1989, and shared more than just two scoops on the curb outside the store, namely their first kiss.

Thanks. I've already been to the Garfield Park Conservatory, and though it was marvelous, I will pass on it for my trip back home. I wanted to see a different conservatory, and Oak Park came up as a curiosity. In fact, I would also venture out to Lincoln Park as well since I haven't been to that one. Would you allot thirty minutes for Oak Park's conservatory, if for example you were passing by or going to have a meal in town?

When were you last in Chicago? I ask because there might be a few things that have popped up or have changed since you've left that might be interesting.

Wait, there's a Haitian American museum in Chicago? I've been here for 9 years and have barely run into any Haitians or Haitian Americans! And only found a single Haitian cuisine restaurant that may not even be in Chicago (Evantson?). *goes investigating*

ETA: Yeah, so, speaking as someone who is both a fan of museums and Haitian American, I personally wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place. No offense to them, it seems like they're new (hence why I never heard of them, despite living just a couple of blocks south of them back in '12) and hopefully still growing, but it looks like a storefront collection of 1-2 pieces from a small handful of artists. I may go check it out if I'm in Uptown again (maybe if I do so before you come visit, I'll send you an update), but if you're sort on time and will only be in the area for a week or so, I'd wonder if it would be worth it honestly. But hey, if you have the time and it's not out of the way, go for it.

I was surprised too, and investigated. It seemed curious and worth stopping by, but since I am unfamiliar with it, my intent was also to gain insight about these sites to get a better idea if they truly are worth going to. Here is the link to it: hamoc-org
