I'm interested in the Lincoln Square/Ravenswood/North Center area and am wondering about the availability of non-street parking there for apartment residents. I noticed that a couple people in other threads mentioned that it is not difficult to find street parking in the area, but do you know if there are some apartment buildings that have parking garages or parking lots? I've seen some listings on craigslist for individual spots and a reference to a garage formerly affiliated with a hospital in Ravenswood but not much else. Is there relatively little crime in the area? Thanks!

There is not really much private parking other than condo owned parking and garages for 2-3 flats and houses. There are a few city owned lots near or on Lincoln Ave.

There's not a whole lot of off-street parking, but you can often find garage spaces for rent for 100-150/mo. These are generally spaces in 2 car garages behind people's houses/apartment buildings. I street park my car and have no problems. As for your crime question, it's a pretty safe area. Lived in Lincoln Square for 4 years and have never (knock on wood) has anything happen to myself or my property. The same goes for just about everyone I know who has lived in the areas you named.
