Seriously, average high temps in the summer are in the mid-80s. Try coming to Houston where it is hot and humid most of the year.

nana053 I have been to Miami many times and trust me it gets very hot and especially humid here in Chicago as well. It is why people have to have the air on 24/7 and then cry about the high bill for several months because of it.

I lived in Evanston for over 30 years. We did not even have central air until the end of that time. We did have nice trees that shaded the house, but we did not even have a window unit until 1990 or so. I think we did central air in 1997 or 1998. Then we moved to a condo in Uptown and then back to Skokie (house did have central air there).

Are you talking about Chicago or Florida?

Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Mild winter here in the midwest thus far; however, it can change rather quickly

You may not like Chicago summers, but with highs in the 80s, it's just not that miserable. Houston where I am now starts in may with highs in the mid-80s and goes through June, July and August with highs in the mid-90s and then September with highs in the high-80s. Heck March and April here are in the mid to high 70s. The humidity is also quite high here even in the winter and at night.

I walked miles on the beach in Chicago summers. I wonder if you are talking more inland than where I lived (5 blocks from Lake Michigan).

It gets in the 90s a lot here and it is so humid all the time. It is not just me that is why I said people are so crabby during those months and complain about the heat and the bill being so high from running the air. Not too mention what it costs in gas to run the air in the car

Some weeks ago I read an article that this year winter is the 2nd least snowfall in history.

Shouldn't this also reflect the east coast too?
