So it's me and the SOs 4th anniversary (of relationship, not marriage!) But it's kind of a big deal so we're staying in the city (the Sheraton that we've stayed at before is only $119/night this weekend!) and we have reservations at Fogo de Chao (because I like blowing my diet)

What I need is recommendations of a bar for the evening. I want something cool but unpretentious, casual but not ordinary (vague enough yet?!?!)

Anyway, we'll be in the super touristy river north area, and while the bar needn't be there, I don't want something super far away either- so Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, South Loop, etc. is fine, but nothing too much farther than that?

Anyone have any recommendations? I'd really appreciate it!

Well if you do get in the mood to venture out, then I would head out to Beverly for some of the pre-parade parties on western ave. Very festive atmosphere the night before the parade and lots of good music

I don't think you're going to be in the mood to drink much after a meal there.

I haven't been there in about 2 years, but I used to love Rockit Bar on Hubbard in between State and Dearborn. (It's very close to Fogo de Chao.) Casual, fun atmosphere. I saw David Schwimmer in there a couple times, he was pretty cute in person.

You're a better man than I. I can't go there without eating enough to make a few African nations cry. Which means I can't leave there without the need to go straight home to my couch, with a towel under my head to soak up the happy meat drool.

I've seen Rockit, but never been. When we first visited the city we went to a Piano Bar over there- can't remember its name- it was a lot of fun, but their drinks were so weak I spent well over $100 and wasn't even a little drunk.
