I haven't been to every single area but I have never seen any parts that don't have them that I have been in.

I've seen a few stetches in industrial areas, but in general, no, sidewalks are very nearly everywhere. There are a few places in Old Edgebrook that don't have sidwalks on one side of the street. There are probably a few other similar areas. But overall, I don't think there are any masses of missing sidewalks.

Just curious who really owns the sidewalk? The city or the abutting property owner> There seems to be turf wars and legal ambiguity on this matter for a long time in many areas.

A part of 103rd street where it curves into Manistee Ave on the SE side has no sidewalk and isn't even paved. Part of Muskegon ave where it deadends south of 100th is also unpaved and without sidewalks. There are some other similar streets on the SE side in industrial areas without sidewalks, like E 122nd and parts of Kreiter and Foreman aves.

On the north side, I have seen sidewalks on only one side of the street in several places, but not no sidewalk at all. East River Road, parts of Bryn Mawr in Sauganash, and (as mentioned) parts of Old Edgebrook have sidewalk on just one side.

Not that I know of in the city but in the suburb of LaGrange Park there are some streets with no sidewalks where tons of nice homes are and the residents hate it as they have to walk on the side of the street as cars drive by.

This caught my eye this morning and I had to laugh.

If you judged Chicago by all my neighbors who have moved here (So. MN) from there you would think there are no sidewalks at all in Chicago. They all walk in the street or down the alleys.

Around Clybourn/ Goose Island area, there are some industrial areas that may lack some sidewalks, although I'm not positive. A few years ago after I got rid of my car, I was being cheap and didn't want to get an Uber. I had to drop off some cable equipment in that area, and my phone died. I remember it being really tough to navigate that area on foot. I'm guessing that some of the more industrial areas of the city, you may find stretches that lack sidewalks, but again, I'm not positive.

I definitely have seen some, either in Edgebrook or nearby (I don't remember exactly).

What prompted me to ask this was the lack of sidewalks at the perimeter of forest preserves. I walk my dog there and I have to walk in sections with no sidewalk. And it doesn't bother me but for people who walk across it, it must suck.
