I know people who have done nice IKEA hacks with their murphy beds ordered online. It might be harder to find them in store IME. For example:

Local Chicago owned business. 20 year history of NOT crushing people with "hacked" solutions -- Off the Wall Beds

Costco also has safe offerings -- https://www.costco.com/Cielo-Full-Wa...100312040.html

I dont get a Murphy bed. are they heavy to raise up against the wall? I see some pics in the link above from Chet that have furniture in front of it. Isn't that a lot of trouble to have to move furniture every night to get in to your bed?

Default "Catalog" vs "real life"

For folks who live in studio apartments a Murphy bed is a great way to not have their bed dominate the room -- the furniture arraignment is generally such that things are not moved nightly, just when hosting professional associates or entertaining for business as opposed to "FWB / Netflix and chill" ...

There are "gas pistons" like modern SUVs have to make it easy to lift the hatch that acts sort of like a counterweight. Very easy to raise / lower. Safety interlocks so it is safe for kids & pets too!

The other common use is for folks who have a need for an occasional "guest room" but want that space to be a professional looking home office or den when guests are not staying in it.

The "catalog shot" of having desk / table is more like the illustration of "serving suggestion" on the box of "hamburger helper" -- something designed to inspire vs how most folks use it!
