I think he just can't let Chicago go.

I've met a number of ex-Chicagoans who dump on the city with the verve of reformed smokers. NYC is the promised land, you see, and if they just try hard enough, then the Great Metropolis might embrace them, burn away their corn-fed flab, and induct them into the ranks of The Chosen.

But these guys don't come back time and again to Chicago internet haunts, even if it is with the express purpose of telling Chicago boosters what pathetic hicks they really are. They've moved on.

I'm firmly of the belief that NOLA wants Chicago to succeed and he's providing his version of tough love, or something. Though I seriously cannot get behind the thesis that a city's greatness is measured by how many celebrities and billionaires it has. That's just weird.

Chicago friends boasted about their cheap rent, we spent a lot of time north of the loop and around Logan Square and Wicker Park. Everyone seems so relaxed, the streets are super clean and the air... the air was so fresh! I know Chicago has crime, all my friends back home know nothing else but its bad reputation. Our recent visit showed us a beautiful city. Are we fools for considering a move out to the windy city. What are you guys hiding? Cause it seems too good to be true...
This is partly due to the fact, Chicago has alleys throughout the city where they store trash and garage bags in closed garbage bins, instead of stacking them in the open, on the sidewalk next to the street/curb, for days, until it's picked-up by waste disposal trucks. In NYC, these garbage bags, stacked pyramid style 20-30 bags high, leak and soak into the concrete on hot summer days, and the smell can be detected all over the city. Don't get me wrong, Chicago, my favorite city in the world, will always be Second City. But, the water is saltless, and the air definitely smells better.
Just google search "NYC garbage" and go to "images".
