Talk is endless on the Chicago subforum about the ills of Illinois government and how those affect Chicago and Chicagoland. The overwhelming consensus means: bad government in Illinois leads to decline.

But, that were the case, shouldn't we have the same concerns about our nation, perhaps even greater concerns since our nation seems to affect us more than our state. And if government is bad in Springfield, it certain is bad in Washington. Should we, as Americans, be concerned about the plight of our national government as we in Illinois apparently are about our state?

So what do you think, Chicagoans: which government performs worse, is more dysfunction: the state of Illinois or the United States of America?

The whole country is dysfunctional but no place worse than Illinois which is why everyone is leaving and I cannot wait to be the next one to go!

As I have mentioned here before a friend of mine in Florida is looking to move to Chicago so bad as he lives this city. But even he is having second thoughts after hearing from me about the latest joke that is Illinois and city politics. Not too mention he is seeing how hard it is too make a living here only to be taxed to death when you do have a job!

If the US didn't have a printing press, it would be in worse shape.

IL hands down. Take away the media hype and I'm not sure how bad the federal government even is.

Illinois hands down. It is a national embarrassment and major quality of life problem for residents. All the shows are now covering it. Heck it is being used to discredit the Democrats as it rightfully should.

Both Lawrence Kudlow and Bob Brinker had long discussions on how absolutely horribly mismanaged Illinois is and both are centrists.

You'd have to live under a rock and not see that our national government has become a complete train wreck. We are the laughing stock of the world.

Illinois government is corrupt but the federal government is corrupt and grossly incompetent, it's a freakin joke. Every day, I mean every day there is a new scandal.
