Vlajos, perhaps Larry Siegel was referencing that north of Lawrence is "not AS nice" as it does not have the same cluster of people as it does around the shops in the Plaza, with all the nice stores and restaurants? I guess we would need to hear further commentary... That said, I am a big fan of visiting Lincoln Square. I love San Soo Gab San! And some of the staff at the Book Cellar know me as "that guy from Milwaukee that comes down on weekends." In fact, Lincoln Square tops out as one of my favorite neighborhoods.

I was agreeing with both Larry and Via, who were responding to another poster that said north of Lawrence in Lincoln Square is not good. As both Larry and Via noted, it is fine to very nice. Drive up California from Lawrence to Foster and then tell me it's not very nice. The homes there are gorgeous.

Vlajos, I agree with you that there are, in fact, A LOT of nice areas of Lincoln Square away from the Plaza. You mentioned the area on California. I also feel that the Bowmanville section (west of Western and north of Lawrence) is a very nice, quiet, and home-y area! Like I said: I gotta loves me some Lincoln Square!

You guys must not live in this nighborhood to enjoy you need to be walking distance to Lincoln Ave . Once I lived on Damen and Belle plane I loved north center then I moved near Rockwell and Irving and I did not feel I was part of a nieghborhood .

There is nothing to do on California north of Lawrence and you will never walk to Lincoln square the actual square with cute stores unless you live close to it. California north of Lawrence has nothing it's just residential.

Southbound2017, No I am not a resident. I'm not even a resident of Chicago. But I can say that Lincoln Square area indeed draws me to visit when I am down there, either by myself or with my children. It sounds like you found an area that is better suited for you/you like better, and that is all that truly matters. Have a great day! Jay from Milwaukee

I love Lincoln square the actual square and have lived always within a mile south and enjoy the walk up Lincoln or western better than I would a walk south from north of Lawrence. You see more pandhandlers and homeless on Lawrence and western and around McDonald's over there is not great. I am telling you look south of lawrence.
