The thread's about bands FROM Chicago, not just popularity of any band IN Chicago. E.g. NIN is from Cleveland LOL

While I'm no Fall Out boy fan, they are from Chicago at least.
In the Wax Trax documentary Reznor talks a lot about how moving to Chicago and being part of the Wax Trax scene formed his sound and a good part of Pretty Hate Machine was recorded in that time. Was going by that.

Yes. What is your point? If you review the thread title, it's bands hailing from (the) Chicago (area).

Been there, done that. NIN started in Cleveland. Period. Where a band records is not the same thing as where they hail from.

Heck, most folks also don't know Wax Trax wasn't even started in Chicago(!) The 'bleed over' is after TVT purchased Wax Trax in the early 90's, if I recall correctly.

Yes, indeed they should be

Even if Billy Corgan has 'retreated' to the 'burbs, they should be considered one of Chicago's finest. Heck, some of my friends lived in the same (massive! btw) loft near Belmont only a couple years after they headed to GA to record w/ Vig.

Okay so Nine Inch Nails are not from Chicago. I'm just saying then that they spent significant time here during the early days of the band. Big deal

Wax Trax! started as a record store in Denver but the label started in Chicago after the store moved here.

My favorite current Chicago band, and additional props for the Chicago scenes in most of their videos.

Twin Peaks
