I really love Asian fare but my main complaint is that they often will put fish sauce in otherwise vegan dishes so looking for places that do not do that. Any and all recommendations for vegan or vegan friendly establishments are appreciated!

Try the Urban Vegan on Montrose and Ashland (admittedly not sure what neighborhood that is - Uptown, maybe?). It's a vegan pan-Asian restaurant with emphasis on Thai.

According to this it was always in Evanston, not in the city. It opened there in 1979 in the old location on Dempster and Sherman near the Dempster *el* station

All I can tell you is that I recall going to Blind Faith Cafe on Lincoln Avenue when I first moved to Chicago back in the mid 1990s. Unless that was a second location, which it could have been.

That's the part of Ravenswood that is in Uptown.

Must have been. It was only open for a year according to this suntimes article.

The former Blind Faith Cafe at 3300 N. Lincoln opened in June 1997 and closed in May 1998

It was advertised at both locations in the Vegetarian Times in March of 1997 and several other months in the period they were open.

There's a Veggi Grill (Vegan Fast Food) coming to Lincoln Park this fall. It's the first one to open outside of the west coast.
