Definitely Ravenswood. Uptown only extends west to Clark, per what I've heard about neighborhood boundaries. Of course depending on who you talk to, you sometimes will get different answers. I've always thought of the 1600 west block on Montrose Ave as Ravenswood, anyway.

And for a thread like this except if I bizarrely missed one random post, I'm surprised noone mentioned The Chicago Diner. Which now has a 2nd location in Logan Square, besides one in Lake View. And of course, just about all Indian restaurants on Devon Ave. would have a lot of vegetarian or vegan choices. Plus Indian restaurants in the rest of the city too, such as Indian Garden in the Streeterville neighborhood.

I'd be careful of Indian restaurants for vegan food. Once at the India House in River North, the waiter said that virtually all of their vegetarian dishes had dairy in the sauces.

Dairy is still vegetarian.

It's not vegan, though.

I like Kitchen 17 (3132 N Broadway
Chicago, Illinois, IL 60657) and Alice & Friends (5812 N Broadway St, Chicago, IL 60660).
Chicago Diner (3411 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60657) has AMAZING vegan versions of country fried steak and ruben sandwich.
