Looking for a short term lease 6 to 9 months preferable Chicago but will settle for suburbs. Does anyone know why it is so hard to find short term leases ? I found corporate housing but to expensive looking for below 1100.

I am not sure why someone renting out a studio would not want to rent out short term and charge a fee. I am willing to pay 1050 for a 900 dollar studio if I could get a six month lease and not have to hassle with finding a sub lease.

I need short term because I do not want to get locked in
12 Month lease because I want to be free to move in the spring or early spring 2018.

Thank you.

I am surprised you are having an issue as well with that. Keep calling places someone has to have a short term option.. Try the suburbs more than the city

Could you perhaps find a place someone else is subletting? Check the Sublets/Temporary section on craigslist for starters.

I found a sub lease for six months but they want to charge a three hundred move in fee I was wondering if this is ok if they already charged move in fee for original lease / resident shouldn't that move in fee cover twelve months ? Wouldn't me paying another move in fee give them twice the amount of fees for one year.

I am debating paying a move-in fee for sub lease I am fine with paying the 45 dollar credit check fee.

You're a new person moving in, you're going to have to pay a move in fee. You won't know if they'll change the lock unless you ask.

BJB properties almost always has short term sublets. Some are posted on craigslist. Most can be found by calling their offices.

As long as there is no drama and the sub lessor is organized a sub lease works good but I wasted my time this weekend with something that did not work out.

It would be nice if apartments offered 6,9, and 12 month leases I only saw one in hoffnan estates that has those lease terms but nothing available.

The apartment can charge fees for shorter term you do not see these in Chicago few in suburbs.

Sub leases can get sloppy if the person is not organized you they should already have contacted management and should know if it's a sub lease or sub let. Then they are usually desperate and will offer to pay part of rent or one month rent but then it becomes a game of trust.

Just reasons why I wish more apartments offered straight short term leases dealing just with management.
