The trails/park go for miles up and down the Lakefront.

Should also clarify that the bars are pretty much on Halsted St between Belmont and Addison. However, there really isn't much spillover to Broadway which runs parallel to Halsted and is only one long block away. Broadway being the "shop and restaurant" street (with highest concentration of businesses staring at Addison and going south to the mega intersection of Clark/Diversey/Broadway where Borders is located. Also, Diversey is the border of Lakeview and Lincoln Park (another cool neighborhood just to the south that historically was slightly more expensive and a little straighter than Lakeview). In my opinion, the zip code for you is 60657. You will have your side street solitude and your urban life in one neat package.

What about 60613????

Default Best neighborhoods...

I have gay friend who loved Lakeview, then moved to Rogers Park/Edgewater (Devon ? & Ridge) and became miserable for the lack of anything to do. Maybe certain parts of Edgewater are okay as others mention I wouldn't know, but if you like to go out, you might want to try a little south of that in Andersonville (Clark/Foster area)- if you can afford it. Lots more shops, etc and there's the gay squaredancing at a church over on Foster and nice tree-lined streets. My friend wishes he was closer to Clark/Foster.

Foster/Clark is Andersonville, and Andersonville is part of Edgewater.

I am fairly sure the OP knows all about "Boystown." He is asking about other areas that would be accepting and good for him. Like its so far out.Gag me with a spoon.

...

You're kidding, right?

That's certainly not "where they all live". I don't know that I'd say it's particularly "weiard" either. It's clubby and a little silly in spots, but many neighborhoods are.

Before moving to Chicago, I thought I would like boystown but it's too clubby for me and I'm 40. I guess it depends upon other interest the OP has. I know that Oakpark is cool for older gays and lesbians.

If they work at a downtown school, or obviously UofC, Hyde Park is good bet too.
