Summers in Chicago are very mild compared to states further south. It's definitely more humid than I expected, but there really weren't many days I found uncomfortable.

Too me it is horrific and I have been to Miami many times and thought they had it bad and they do but so do we sadly. I have friends from Florida who are moving here soon and they were disappointed when they came here this summer thinking they were getting away from the heat and humidity only too find it is just as bad here too. They just revisited though looking for places to live here and were happy too see we do get at least a little break from it. Now they are dying to experience snow too which I told them good luck as we had none last winter

I hate heat but Chicago is one of the cooler Summer cities in the United States and is certainly much better than Florida. Chicago has the potential to get hotter than much of Florida, but such heat is extremely rare. Chicago in July is roughly equal to April or October in Central Florida. The only major US cities with cooler Summers than the Chicago lakefront are those on the West Coast, other Great Lakes cities, and possibly Boston. Inland areas warm up hotter during the day but somewhat make up for it during cooler nights.

Some of us can't stand hot weather. As much as I like summer in Chicago area, I hate any day over 80 degrees. I prefer days to be high sixties to low seventies period.

You really couldn't live in about 80% of the nation if you think Chicago's summers are that bad. lol You'd have to go dead East or dead West to find summers (outside of coastal CA) better than Chicago's. Anything south of there will give you a violent wake up call. Here in Phoenix we have 4 STRAIGHT months of 100-120 degrees. Maybe one or two days each summer that dip just slightly below 100. Overnight lows range from 85-100 degrees.

Chicago's summers are a walk in the park. Trust me.

I used to think I was in the minority of those who loved winters here and hated summers but I have found so many people feel that way

It's not brutal every year, but as someone who's first summer in Chicago was the 1995 summer with the deadly heat wave attributed with killing over 700 people, I absolutely agree that Chicago summers can be brutal.

I like desert heat. I'll take 100 degrees in the desert over 85 in humidity any day of the week. And I worked a full summer as a concrete construction laborer in desert heat, so I have a pretty good idea what I'm saying.

I also like Winter much better than Summer; I wish it were cold and snowy at least half the year. Chicago Summers are too hot for me, but I know that it is better than most of the country.

I hate really hot weather. Didn't think this past summer was that bad. I am ok with the cold, I try to see how long I can go before I wear my parka for the 1st time. I do think winter goes too long and I hate when the sidewalks get too icy for me to walk to work.

This past summer was very mild. There were only a few 90 degree days.

I hate winter. I'd describe it as torture. I don't even want to get out from under the blanket in the morning. I'd rather have 95 degrees than -20 deg F like we had in 2013/2014.
