Would it have a positive effect on the economy? I would think they would make money from the revenue they get from it. They could also make cuts to employees working at courthouses and probabation officers. Chicago would be a more hip place attracting the youth from around the midwest and would be seen as progressive.

What do you guys think?

They’d find a way to make it as expensive and corrupt of an industry as possible. But probably a net gain.

It would be fantastic for the city's coffers assuming they don't over regulate and tax it, as Bluefox said.

I'm for it. Regulate and tax. Don't over regulate and over tax though.

It would be great in theory but somehow they would screw it up.

Besides the economic benefits, it makes people non-violent if anything will.

In addition to the tax revenue from MJ sales, Tourism would jump significantly bringing in all kinds of additional $$. It's a no brainer, I don't know what they're waiting for?

Plus it'd lighten the load on the legal and penal system if people weren't going through for minor weed possession charges. That alone would be a massive bonus.

I'm thinking there won't be too many happy courthouse employees and probation officers excited about being cut loose.
