And they are wrong. Crime has improved in the majority of the city. The vast majority. I've lived here for over three decades too.

I have seen what you refer to in Lincoln Square. Someone thinks crime us up because they hear of a mugging in some alley. And they thought this could never happen in Mayberryesque Lincoln Square. All the sudden crime is out of control. Look at the stats from 2009 or whatever. There were triple the muggings then.

Then why are they saying the reason crime is up all over the North side due too many police being pulled out of there and sent to the south side? Heck even Gary McCarthy recently said even where he lives in River North crime is up more than ever before

Who is saying this? "People"? Look at the statistics. Crime is down generally in most of the City.

Gary McCarthy is lying if he said that. Cabrini Green used to be in Near North and crime was way worse then.

Not the old Cabrini area but River North where the high rises and restaurants are. And Cabrini has been gone for many years anyway. This increase in crime is the last two years

Please don't feed the trolls. All they want to do is turn this into a "what about black on black crime" thread.

We have enough of those that already exist.

Chicagoland housing is still a great deal compared to similar cities.

if he's talking about a specific couple of blocks that may be. But Near North which includes River North is no where near all time crime highs. Did Gary provide any statistics or just make a statement? He's thinking of running for Mayor, politicians tend to lie. Look at Trump for example.

Then why is River North like the other areas on the news so much now due too an increase in carjackings and robberies?

Dude you keep bringing up the "news" and "people" anecdotes. We have crime statistics going back to the 50s or even earlier. Crime is down in the vast majority of the city. Look it up.

I read the Tribune this morning and one of the headlines was that there was a bar fight in Lincoln Park and someone went to the hospital! Which btw is likely to show up as a battery crime in Lincoln Park. The news is out to make money, and apparently crime stories sell.
