What's your budget? Lincoln Square is about 1 mile due W of Uptown but a world away in terms of the 'element'. LS has a lot of new condos going up and single family homes will start around $600K (one that one require too much work). Lincoln Ave between Lawrence/Irving Park is a great strip of commerce.

The O.P. is long gone, so you won't have an answer. You don't go by the name "UrineTown" on other forums, do you? Your manner of talking about Uptown is strangely familiar...

Chicago Uptown Crime Blotter
Is this blotter dead now? (No pun intended)

It appears the last posting was made on Friday, September 19, 2008.

apparently so. bummer.

i actually go to chicagoscanner.com now to listen to the scanner on there (it's city wide though). that's pretty much how i found out why the kid walking in front of me near Devon & Broadway the other night had blood all over his face... apparently some other guy was throwing bricks at people.

Let me guess the brick throwing was going on northwest of Devon and Broadway on Devon.

Call it a wild guess.

It was more between Devon and Granville & west of B'Way, I think. it was weird because I was just walking down the sidewalk on my phone then out of nowhere comes blood covered kid. it was weird!

Some dude was on a roof once adjacent to Ronan Park on Argyle throwing bottles at my little sister.

I was like 5 or 6...

Uptown's a great place to bring kids. Just the other day my daughter kept trying to run over to play with a group of homeless "campers" in Clarendon Park. They always lay under the trees on the slope separating the ball fields. There were about ten of them, and they were a nasty foul bunch who were obviously f***ed up on something or other. The women had gravelly voices and were dropping f-bombs continuously at a loud volume. A real classy crew, but my toddler daughter thought they looked like a fun bunch. Plus, they always leave the garbage and glass shards on the ground for her to play with, and she loves that.
