So I was a Huck Finn regular....but its got so expensive averaging $9 bucks a person it's not worth it as I can do to a nicer place for a little more....

So I need to find a new dive diner/coffee joint....

Any recommendations? thanx

I can't think of any off the top of my head, but every time I'm down there there doesn't seem to be any shortage of burger/dog/polish-sausage joints and the like. I know of one on about the 400 block of W. 31st Street but that might be a bit too far east for you.

9 bucks a person really is not all that bad if that is the total you are paying including a beverage, tip, and tax.

The Ramova Grill at 35th and halsted. I've only gone for breakfast but I hear the chile is outstanding. I see people ordering it by the pint at 10:30 in the morning.
Be prepared there are no breakfast menus at the Ramova. If you ask for one the waitress will just say "well what do you want"?

Healthy Foods on 32nd/Halsted is also really a good diner. (if you like lithuanian food)

The Polo Cafe on 33rd and Morgan was just a dive but word has spread about it and is now more of a tourist attraction but food is outstanding

Further north not in bridgeport but close enough on Rooselvelt east of halsted just before the bridge is the diner dive shangri-la. The White Palace. The Fried Chicken Salad is awesome.

Default $9 is cheap

9 bucks is cheap. It costs me $8-9 everytime I go to Subway or Quizno's and I don't get a waiter/waitress to serve me.

If you want cheap, really cheap, go to McDonald's. Don't go to White Castle, as it just isn't worth it, even if they are giving away the food

Even their eggplant sandwich is incredible. And I'm no vegetarian for sure.

Polo is anything but cheap, especially by South Side standards. Their weekend brunch prices are reasonable-ish, but still going to cost more than Huck Finn's.
