Not to worry. I hear Chicago is one of the top (42) contenders being considered for HQ6.5(and a 1/3).

There was a jubilant rally in downtown Cleveland's public square yesterday, an explosion of public pride and Great Lakes muscle when the elated citizenry realized that the Mistake-By-The-Lake will soon, ferreal, have the distinct and vaunted distinction of being "The Only US City Not To Be An Amazon HQ".

As reported on another thread here...

Well, Nashville didn't win the HQ, but comes away with a nice consolation prize of a 5,000 employee "operations center."

With Woodlawn I disagree, that area has seen economic improvements recently, especially thanks to the University.

Wow....just read the headline that they will not be building in NYC, and they will be conducting another search for the second headquarter. Now everyone/all cities can get their hopes up again only to be let down later, lol.

Well we already made plans for the 78 and lincoln yards. So where would it be ? West of ohare?

Chicago is not a great location logistically we are to far away from Florida and Texas.

Would make sense for third location in Atlanta.

If they had four or five smaller hubs chicago would make sense amazon should have five hubs north west Seattle, sw Los Angeles, Midwest chicago, south east Atlanta, north east wherever Virginia.

I am not gonna get my hopes up again

No! This was government dollars going to the public sector. They want dollars from the public sector going to the government. To them, it was all bass ackwards! Employment matters less than getting billionaires to pay their fair share; i.e. redistribute their wealth.

Yes, thank you. New York likely made this decision for the wrong reasons, but ultimately paying off Amazon to locate there is welfare in a different context. If a business wants to do business in a state, it should be because the state has a favorable economic climate, not because it's going to rob Peter to pay the company to locate there!
