I would be surprised if Chicago didn't get ANYTHING from all this, even if it's just a 2,000 person office/mini-headquarters, similar to what Boston received. I would think that its relative affordability and centralized location would count for something..

Exactly. Given that Amazon already has 10K employees already in the state of IL, it would make sense.

Not looking good folks. Bad news is no 50,000 high paying jobs. Good news is maybe it'll become a little easier to buy property.

The city is full of affordable housing and would remain as such even with Amazon here.

Yup. Heard the same news. Apparently Crystal City, Va (right outside of DC) is wrapping up final logistics with Amazon. People will be able to come to grips soon that Amazon will not be coming here, unfortunately.

Exactly... Plenty of very affordable housing ready for purchases in the cities south and west sides.

This whole Amazon sweepstakes has brought out an incredible amount of ignorance in people. It's like being afraid to go to to the gym because you'll become too muscular after a few workouts. Ten Amazons could open in Chicago, and there would still be significant affordable housing all over the city - and by trains too.

I completely agree. The amount of affordable housing here is astounding. Amazon would not have changed that in anyway.
