"Salesforce on Friday will announce plans to anchor a new riverfront skyscraper and add at least 1,000 jobs to its Chicago workforce in the next five years. The San Francisco-based software firm has leased about 500,000 square feet in the planned third and final tower in the Wolf Point development, said Elizabeth Pinkham, executive vice president of global real estate at Salesforce."

"Salesforce expects the average annual salary of those employees will be $100,000"

That's a massive amount of office space. They clearly intend to hire more than 1,000 people. They have 700,000 SF in their HQ in San Francisco.

I agree and the building design is really nice! I hope the new Mayor stays focused on job creation like Rahm has.

The city is allowing Sales Force a exception to the ordinance that otherwise would have bedded it .... because of Trump putting is name up and prevent such stuff again.

From September....
City Hall wants to relax rules on riverfront signage to woo Salesforce to Wolf Point
The original regulations were adopted in response to Trump Tower’s oversized sign

If it helped secure this deal ..... why as always ..... glass is only half-full and dropping. Never anything positive seems good enough for some.

Awesome news for Chicago!! Hopefully no tax incentives were awarded because Salesforce does not need them. Nor does any private company.

Let me begin by saying I'm NOT one of those annoying posters that thinks everything in better in Indiana. I don't. I lived in the Chicago area for most of my life. Chicago is my favorite city.

That said, I find this development interesting given that Salesforce opened it's second largest employment center in Indianapolis in 2017. They committed to 800 new jobs by 2021. Then there was this: https://www.indystar.com/story/money...lis/914544002/

I can't help but wonder what this means for Indianapolis.

BTW--Congrats Chicago!

no corporation of this size is going to turn down an investment opportunity and access to talent pool because of a signage guideline. there are plenty of cities globally that are far more restrictive. Chicago dosent need to sacrifice design guidelines in order to draw businesses here.

That was my initial thought when the rumors of this were first swirling a few months ago. I wonder if they shrink the Indianapolis footprint.
