Philz Coffee, which is a San Francisco based chain, had entered the Chicago market. Its first shop in Chicago, as well as the Midwest, is located on Division St. in Wicker Park.

Apparently, it's a coffee shop with the vibe of a cocktail bar. It doesn't have an extensive menu, such as lattes and blended drinks. Instead, Philz offers just a dozen coffee blends. The cups are brewed to order.

Have any posters ever tried Philz? If so, what is your opinion of its offerings?

It’s great! My wife tried it out when she had a trip to the east coast and was raving about it. We have been to the Wicker Park location twice in 2 months now, and it has been a good coffee experience. It is pricey, even for plain coffee however, and the place does get busy.

Meh, I'm not a fan. I appreciate espresso more than coffee regardless of how fancy it gets.

Interesting to see these non-Chicago coffee establishments taking hold in Chicago. The two most recent I think are Philz and maybe Collectivo?

I've been to Philz out west. Their coffees are good. But not good enough to wait 15 minutes for a cup that costs four or five bucks.
