Hello!

Ive been asked to fictionalize a true story set in Boston and based on what I’ve researched, Chicago is a fair substitute.

I’ve never been to Chicago, so would greatly appreciate any and all help!

I’m looking for comparable areas for the following:

1. Newbury Street, Back Bay — specifically a high rent shopping/restaurant district with mixed use/residential buildings

2. An area/neighborhood walking distance from #1 where upscale hotels would be, like a Four Seasons (if not the same area? Idk)

3. An affordable working class suburb 20-30 minutes drive from #1

Thank you very much!

1 - North Michigan Avenue, the "Miracle Mile."
2 - Same area/River North
3 - Evanston

Affordable working class suburb and you pick Evanston? Hmmmm. Evanston is not working class nor affordable.

For #3 I would pick something like Berwyn, Norridge, Des Plaines, Cicero

Thank you so much!!

Does the Miracle Mile have buildings with some age on them by any chance or is everything new construction?

Do NOT pick Evanston as a "working-class" suburb" . Wrong, wrong....and wrong. I suspect that you already know this.

That is all.

It's the Magnificent Mile

The Wrigley Building and Tribune Tower at the south end have some age. The Wrigley Building is pretty cool looking. The Chicago Water Tower (not to be confused with Water Tower Place), while not an office building, is one of the few buildings that survived the Chicago Fire in 1871.

I can’t thank you enough! This is great.

One of the key points in the story is one of the Jewish people says/jokes his family was the only Jewish family in the (working class) neighborhood — would Winnetka work for that?

Last question (for now?)

What area is most associated with the mob (in the years 1950-70) such as where they would congregate at social clubs etc
