We are from out of state and about to sign a lease with an apt near Margate park, uptown area. I will have to take the redline to downtown. I wanted to ask if the area is safe to walk? I do need to either walk from argyle station, passing by susidized buildings or walk to daycare centers and take Lawrence redline. Also any good daycare recommendation around there?

Many thanks!

Margate park is definitely one of the fancier parts of Uptown. You'll have no real problems walking around, just use common sense. Argyle, which is where the redline stop is, looks more intimidating than it really is, but do be prepared for plenty of loiterers crowding certain corners. They're harmless.

Pro-tip. The express buses that go up and down lake-shore drive are sometimes a lot faster than the redline to get downtown depending on where you're going. Since Margate Park has lakeshore drive as the eastern boundary it is worth looking into.

Thanks, just curious, is it safe that I get off at Lawrance and walk back to Margate terrace? There are a lot of daycare options there.

Lawrence is fine, it's really only two blocks south of Argyle. One thing I'd note is that Lawrence is set to shut down later this year for reconstruction.
