Hello I was researching a condo near winthrop and grainville a lot of the threads about safety in this area are ten years old. How is the area west of broadway and grainville these days? Is it safe enough for a female to walk home at night? I do not see parking so may have to park west of broadway and walk to winthrop via grainville.

Thank you

Keep your face out your phone while walking and you'll be good.

Perfectly fine. It's one of the safer community areas in Chicago.

It was a nice area in 2016 when I moved away, and since I’ve been back it looks just as good, if not a little better. Edgewater Glen is beautiful, and Granville is a nice street.

I spent two hours near broadway and grainville and i thought it was very nice but I had trouble relaxing because I kept getting hounded by panhandlers. I walked around and was approached once aggressevley for money and that was enough for me to decide not to move over there atleast right on that corner where I was going to move. THe people just standing asking for money when you walk by is fine but i was followed and the person would not stop asking this was during the day and I figured I would not feel comfortable if I wanted to go and get coffee at six am like I do in current nieghborhood. I ended up moving to andersonville.

You could not sit anywhere I noticed and have coffee outside the mcdonalds seats were all taken by homeless people outside.

Maybe things have changed, but I'd expect more by Bryn Mawr.

Also never went to that McD's but the one on Foster seems to attract some homeless folks.

Probably due to location by the el. Homeless people in/around that McDonald's were there back when I lived in the neighborhood. One block west/east of Broadway (and further) were never problems.
